A total of 109 boats (114 paddlers) hit the water and the racing conditions were great with flat water and a light breeze.
In the 15.5 k race 47 took part. Three paddlers, Daniel Mole, Robert Pomie and Jason Keating were out front for most of the race. Daniel pushed away to finish a tight race in 1.13.04 just 2 sec ahead of Robert and Jason 1 min back. The first lady home was Brooke Crosse 1.24.33 with Isabella Gill only 1 min behind.
In the 10.5 k race 48 took part. Bryn Davis and Lachlan Bankcroft, in a K2, showed great style to finish in 49.48. They were followed by Andrea King 55.26, who was pushed by her club mate Lewis Fuller 55.27. Two juniors, Jack Bicknell 57.28 and Alex Clarey 57.30, chased close behind.
It was great to see some strong racing right across the field and the younger paddlers did not let the older paddlers get it all their own way. Of the first 11 home in the 10.5km race, 7 were 18 or younger with the eleventh finisher, Daniel Hardwick, 1.00.18, being under 14. Four young ladies took on the 3k with Tori Rixon home in 28.01. Her sister, Sophie Rixon won the 5.8km race in 45.8km race.
Thank You all for coming to our race. A big thanks to all pre entries (70) as this helped a lot. To all the volunteers… I thank you as the day would not have run so well.
